There's a mantra I've run across recently that might be the kind of thing you are looking for.
God and me
me and God
are oneThe recorded version I have has the last word of each line held longer. Roughly it's "God and" as eighth notes, "me" is held for three beats (assume 4/4 measure). Same for "me and God", holding "God" for three beats. Then "are" is a quarter note and one" is held for three. If I remember correctly, they are all the same note.
I hope this makes sense, and I hope it helps.

I'm gonna' print out and put by bedside GG.
My anxiety is so bad in the eves.
Wish didn't live in a condo, or I'd get a tape. I know I shouldn't care, but 4 some ridiculous reason, do.
There is a prayer 4 Anxiety & Grief, I printed last eve, set beside, and kept reading over and over, which is ...
O He who is sufficient from all things
But nothing is sufficient from Him
Be sufficient for me in what worries me in the state I am.tksgg, 5f

Grace: given freely by a loving God to free us from sin, fear, death.
(more than 4 or 5 words) but I did my best.

Well Spriggy, all, I understand.
I must have a hard time receiving it. Or, maybe it's here and I won't allow myself to succumb to it. That would be likely. If 'we think we are bad', the grace probably can't get through. I was raised Cath and fear the sin or be damned to purg or hell theology. I've always said 'I don't need to go to church to be in contact w/ a higher power' or 'the 12 steps are a way to your higher power'. But, what I do, is pray by myself. I ask for guidance, but have a hard time giving up the steering wheel for fear someone might hurt me. I wonder if our higher power ever thought life would be so difficult. I'm so afraid to let go and receive, because society demands us to 'play the game right' or be left alone.

That's a lovely verse, 5F. I hope you're finding some relief in using these words to soothe.

Unearned gifts from God
God's divine intercession in life-Through our Lord Jesus Christ
(for those picky on doctrine)
Tough to sum up the crux of Christianity. As a recovered alcoholic I live by grace.JUST IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T been bombarded by the beautiful hymn Amazing Grace
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.
T'was Grace that taught...
my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear...
the hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares...
we have already come.
T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far...
and Grace will lead us home.
The Lord has promised good to me...
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be...
as long as life endures. When we've been here ten thousand years...
bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise...
then when we've first begun.

I don't want it to sound as if I'm lowering the tone, but there is a Grateful Dead song, the relevant lines of which go....
'Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of men.'

Louly,
Anne Murray sings Amazing Grace beautifully!
>How precious did that Grace appear...
the hour I first believed.>
>Don't ya' dislike it when someone says, "I just got it! I fell to my knees and my life was changed! I'm saved!", like it was a huge event, like seeing a vision. Anyone relate? 'Cuz I gotta say, if this happened to me, I missed it! And if a vision came to me, I didn't see it. When I heard someone say the former, I'd think, 'well I want/need that too'! Yes, I did. But, now, think I know better. This could be an ever so silent message or happening, I believe.
The first step in AA/NA/whateverA, mayB a good mantra or Serenity Prayer. I've thought of attending NA v. a church. Any1 else do this?
I see a lot of followups and good ideas.
I really needed this!
grace=forgiveness?, 5f
ps: Been too ill to post 4 a stint; on mend I believe.
pss: For those picky on doctrine; pls forgive my lack of knowledge of it.

And when my youngest was sick in the hospital at l8months old and wouldn't eat I went home to bed and two nights in a row Christ visited me in my room dreamlike in a low flowing robe of off white and the message in his eyes was be strong. First night ignored it second night didn't. Went to the hospital looked at my child and said if she wants to live she will. And she got better than day. Don't know what that vision was. Love Phillipa ps does Christ make visits like this?

The song is Ripple, and the album is "American Beauty".
I've listened to it way too much, but I think it's the most tasteful album ever really.

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music
Would you hold it near as it were your own? It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
Perhaps they're better left unsung
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air
(Chorus)
Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blowReach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of menThere is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone(Chorus)
You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall you fall alone
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you homeLa dee da da da, la da da da da, da da da, da da, da da da da da
La da da da, la da da, da da, la da da da, la da, da da.

The lyrics are for Ripple and were intended for the thread above.
Reading the lyrics and having the song go through my head reminds me of how much I love it.
