Blame is and ugly emotion. It's way beyond guilt. Guilt is toxic but blame is worse.....it's along side shame.
I had my first boyfriend die in a motorcycle accident and I blamed myself. I was in a downward sprial for a few years.
I just could not get over that somehow I did that to my boyfriend....
It was an accident, he had broken up with me and I was 300miles away when it happened. But I was filled with so much self-hatred that I blamed myself.
There was no reasoning with me. I went down the slippery slope of depression, shame, guilt and blame.
After doing 4 years of EMDR recently I can finally really see what was at work there. Wish that therapy had been invented sooner. Oh well.
Bless your soul Steve Pamperine! So I am still curious....how are you?
