I'm not doing well

Posted by TwoD's on April 9, 2005, at 9:13:51

Hello
THis is a first for me. I felt good though out my life and now this has hit me like a ton of bricks.
I had a dental Crown put on and the dentist helper ground the cap down too far. This took my bite off. Sounds simple enough right? When this happened something happened to my brain!!
I got heart pounding anxiety, panic attacks, depression. This started 6 months ago. I have been to Drs for med..First Remeron...Then Paxil was added then seroquel and ativan..Talk about dry mouth...anyway I still am having a very hard time with depression and some anxiety. My Meds give me side effects and the Dr. Can't understand the whole thing...(like I can). I need to know if anyone knows of a med that dosn't cause dry mouth or clinching..I am still going to the dentist (I went to many before I found one willing to help) I know it sounds like a dental problem but it has really affected my brain. I can't seem to come out of it even on the meds. Has anyone heard of this happening or any help woulp with the meds would be good!

I can relate...
my dental bite is off and has been for years.
I clench and grind....ugly
sometimes I have to pry my mouth open after a good nights sleep.
I am so sorry you have gone through so much over a tooth.
you will find we have a cool med board and the social site is full of great people looking to chat with you.
please make yourself at home here.
I hope to see you posting
my best to you

THanks for the reply. I went to the dentist yesterday and he told me I would have to have 5 crowns replaced on the bottom alone. Great for someone that can't stand even one change in my mouth. I clinch all day long trying to find a place to put my teeth that is comfy. I'm going to see a new doc tomorrow to see if I can get any new meds that will help me forget about my mouth--It"s really became a bit of a obsession..I think about it all the time now. Any ideas on how to stop the madness!! :-(

Hi,
I wish I could help. About all I can do is relate. I've had to have multiple crowns done too. It can be just miserable, especially if there is gum involvement.

Good luck, dear. Hang in there. (and don't forget to floss..)

Which teeth?
why are your teeth doing so badly?
because you grind them or clinch?
I hope you can get some answers as to why your teeth have taken such a turn.
this is painful to read much less experience.
remember the Psychology board on babble is for meds...I would think that some there might have an understanding about teeth and problems as well.
my goodness.

Its really not so much about my teeth but how I reacted to what happened. It was when the dental helper shaved too much off the two teeth and I lost my bite I also "lost my mind" I had heart pounding anxiety and depression that I couldn't get rid of. I had to see a phyc dr. and he gave me Paxel remeron clonapam and seroquel. It has been since aug. and I am still not good. Nothing like this has happened to me before. I am going for EMDR next week to help me forget. Has anyone had EMDR and if so does it work.

yes I have and it has changed my life.
your description about the dentists helper makes me cringe.
I have done some work on being at the dentist.
it is such a fast therapy.
I moved through years of pain in very little time.
I hope this helps.

He told me that he seen articles on emdr for dentist problems. He has been doing it for a long time so I hope this helps. I am so glad to hear that it helped you. With meds emdr and a good dentist I may be back to my old self!

welcome :)

I'm going to try to get off paxil. I cut down and got brain zap and also musle twitches . I also wonder how safe seroquil is.
