i recently started taking lexapro for help with a 27 year history of GAD and panic disorder. I have tried many Rx's and could not tolerate the side effects. again, I experienced unwanted side effects with this medication: sweating, trouble sleeping, headaches, stomach cramps; but decided to stick with it anyhow. as my blood level started to build up, i noticed that i was bcoming very depressed and angry (something that is not me!). i stopped taking the lexapro three days ago and am experiencing the same side effects experienced upon initial use, but with more anxiety and panic attacks. i was only on the medicine for a few weeks. does anyone know a safer approach to cut down and discontinue this Rx? my pharmacist said he didn't think i should have any problem just stopping it completely, as did the nurse at my doctor's office. i am very angry that my doctor has not taken sufficient time to help me with the withdrawal or detox symptoms i am currently experiencing. i am in college and am afraid this will jepardize my studies. HELP!!

Hello there, Bai. We have a board for withdrawals. I'm pretty sure I've seen a Lexapro thread on it, so you may want to cut and paste your message into a new post there.

I think that just as we all respond differently to medications, it must be true that stopping them would be different for us as well... honestly, sometimes I'd like to tell my doctor to take some of these drugs herself and see how it feels to have all the unwanted and uncomfortable side effects.

Anyway, welcome to babble. I hope you're able to find some support here.

OK; try opening your original post here and select the text and copy it.
Then close the post, go to the top or bottom of this Newbie board, and click on the Withdrawl board. You should be able to start a new post there, and paste your text into it.
Let me know if you have any problems.
