Hello everyone!
As a few others put it, been lurking around and finally registered.
I'm gonna just jump right in and ask a question :)I was diagnosed as bipolar in Oct. was put on Lamictal, Ambilfy and Seroquel. Those meds turned me into a complete Zoombie. I began having black-outs (also while driving), dizziness, I was falling down almost daily and had horrible memory problems. It seemed everytime I told my doctor he just increased my dosages. I asked the doctor to take me off all the meds and he refused. After 6 months I finally decided to ween myself off since the black-outs were getting more frequent and I was afraid of killing someone or myself behind the wheel. Are there any long term side effects from taking these meds when I didn't need them? The worst thing is, I can remember almost nothing when I was on all those medications, those 7 months are like a blurr!!
I'm doing lots better since being put on an HRT and Effexor by a different doctor.

Hey Dixie_gal. I'm glad you went ahead and posted on the other board as well. Welcome. It looks like some of us take turns remembering to check the newbies board.
Just wanted to give a real hello.

Hi, Dixie_Gal
I'm glad, reading your story, that you got off that stuff. Your Pdoc may need some retooling. What was he thinking??
How are you doing? Are the effexor and Hrt helping?
I'll be looking for you on the Babble mainpage. Maybe you've already said more.
Anyway, belated Welcome to Psychobabble.
Maybe check out some of the other pages here: esp. Psychology, Social or others,
Jost

Oh my gosh Dixie gal, this sounds so much like me. I've been trying to go off of Effexor and when I kept having side effects, my primary Dr. referred to to a psych Dr. He decided that I'm Bi-polar. This after 42 years of masking it? Anyway, he put me on Topamax 3x's a day, to which I forgot everyday words, now I'm on Lamictal and I'm having awful headaches and blurred vision, plus now I'm really depressed!
Thanks for your story--now I'm going to go see about some HRT's--which is what I think I needed all along.

Welcome to Babble, Messed up by meds. I hope you've been finding your way around in the weeks since you arrived.
I hope your Lamictal side effects have diminished. I used to get headaches everyday, too. That went away after a few weeks. I also had trouble with words a couple times with dose increases, but fortunately that also went away.
Again welcome. Folks are pretty friendly here, though there's not a lot of action on this board, unfortunately.
