feel guilty my meds are working

Posted by kellyO on May 28, 2008, at 16:51:07

I'm using topamx for my bulimia with prozac and adderal and it works great. The word recall and word retrivial problem I had with the topmax is gone , with the adderall. But I feel guilty that I'm staying thin with pill-help instead of willpower and the 12 steps , also, I've gotten concerned about the long term effects of Topamax and asked if I could go from 100mg to 50mg. I went down, this week, by 25mgs and feel a little dizzy and tiered and slight headache, the last few days, it's cool that I don't have to work right now, so I can just lie down when i want, but I'm not getting anything else done, should I just go to 50 and take the maybe bigger side effects and get it over with all at once? What if I start to gain weight or throw up and this going down was for nothing?.it's hard to stand on medication when it's working just fine, I get spooked that it's forever and I'll be sorry that I got relief now, and pay for it with side effects later. To press on and lose a few days now or to go back to 100mg and think about it another day? I'm looking for a job and this is really making my life crazy.

hey there, fellow topamaxer :) » kellyO

welcome to babble!!! i know i've foudn lots of helpful people ehre, and i hope you do too!

i take topamax currently. had to mess with dosage, blah blah blah, and then i see her again this week :)

long story short. it's the one that works for me, i jsut get soem side effects, don't take it for a while and end up in the same shape i'm always in. but, that's jsut me :)

you may be able to get some other more useful answers form other people. social may bye a good place to post this one.

but, one thing to remember, the side effects from withdrawaling should eventually go away. much like the dumbness it causes (wait, i'm still pretty slow, so maybe that doesn't go away :)

take care of yoruself hun. (btw, what long term side effefcts have you heard about? a good place to post that would be the meds board, but i'm really curious, since i take it too!)

give yourself some time hun.
