I have been trying to withdraw from all my meds. I am very sick, feel like I have a severe case of the flu. I am so weak that sometime I cannot get out of bed. I am unable to sleep. How long can this go on? I have gotten off klonopin, and zyprexa, but now I have to go back on the zyprexa for a while.

In reply to withdrawal from lithium carbonate, posted by Suziebell on October 20, 2008, at 6:57:33
Hi, Suziebell. Welcome to Psychobabble.
How abruptly did you discontinue the lithium? Often if you stop a drug too quickly, there is a discontinuation syndrome, which can go on for some time. It's better to go down slowly, to minimize this reaction.
There is a medication board, listed on the bottom of each page of threads. Your question could be answered much more fully by people on that area of babble, who have taken and discontinued lithium. I would recommend that you post your question there.
I hope you check out some other areas of babble, if you're interested. The most active are the psychology and social sections, as well as the medication board.
best,
Nadezda
