New here. Advise the correct forum.

Hi,all.I just turned 50 yesterday.Back in the 90's I went on Xanax and Prozac for OCD.I did great for 8 yrs.(best time of my life). My Doc.left and my new one took me off the benzo's (stepped my down). He then added Mirtazapine,Trazadone, and Busporine.I also have severe arthritis in my neck with very stiff muscles that keep my vertebrae from re-aligning normally. They usually give me 1-2 months Valium at the emergency room and the neck returns to normal for another year or two.
After 15 yrs.of SRRI's,I took myself off of the med's that I felt were not helping me with depression.I now only sleep in 2 hour spurts (but I don't feel depressed). Now I am on opiates for the pain (which I hate)and feel that if I was still on the benzo's, I would not need pain meds. When I ask to be put back on the benzo's for neck muscle relaxation, he says I just want to get a buzz. Is it drug abuse if I take a prescribed med AS prescribed? That is the way he makes me feel.I know what helps, but my Doc. doesn't believe me. I'm out of options.I do not want to spend the rest of my life as a cripple. Any advise?

-----Hey there and Welcome!------

-----I'm sorry you are having such a hard time right now. I think some forums that might be good to post your situation in are the "medication" forum and also the "health" forum. There might be others on those forums that have some ideas for you-- sorry I don't, but I wanted to welcome you and direct you to other places in which you might get some advise.

Good luck to you and hope to see you around! :o)

-----Oh my goodness!! how did I miss this??^^
Well, Happy Happy Belated Birthday to you!!!

---- Ouch! I know those can hurt. I've had them before near my collar bone as I had "keloids" and got steroid shots right in the keloid-- yeeow-- it didn't feel too good. Sorry you are having to have this done-- I sure hope it helps at least.

>>.I'm sure my health problems are causing my bad depression.<<

----I'm sure too, it has something to do with your depression-- please keep hoping and try to take one day at a time.

take care,

Thanks for the belated B-day wish.
I think I will move my discussions over to the medication forum for a while and spill my guts over the ever changing types of crazy meds I have been on for the last 15 years and the pros and cons of each . I also want to talk about the good and bad mental health Doctors I have had to deal with (no names of course). Thanks again for the warm welcome!

Hi, Welcome & as to good & bad mental health professionals, the Psychology Board might be a good one for that. Very caring, lovely folks frequent that "board".

:-) Kath

also - Social is great just for some nice support in a social way.
