But if you're faced with a choice between a lawyer and a used car salesman?

who do you trust?

do you make the choice yourself
or
leave it up to either a used car salesman or a lawyer?

it is possible to determine which individual would better.
to abjure this responsiblity is to default to the choice of the worse of two evils.

for evil to succeed, the good need only do nothing.

to NOT vote only encourages them.

hey Bobby,

> You do realize that i was kidding around---right?

no.
that was in no way transparent.

> I am a Democrat who votes a lot of Rebublicans into office.

all by yourself? impressive.
ever heard of DINOs?
Democrat In Name Only.

> Wish the Democrats would nominate someone I liked.

given what is offered in contrast the bar is not set real high.
how picky dare we get?

pardon me for being overly serious about voting.
i am serious about voting.
a lot of people have died for our voting rights.

my dad was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base near Montgomery, Alabama in 1954 ... i was 4 years old, but i remember my mom telling me to stay away from the bus stops ...

rosa parks, r.i.p.

there are those who do not want us to be serious about voting.
know what i mean?

vote like your life depended on it.

Sorry little Jimi. Didn't mean to rattle your cage. Most of what i write has dry humor and not meant to offend anyone. In the future use that for reference.Who knows? Maybe some day you can vote for me. :) sorry if I touched a nerve.

hi Bobby,

> Sorry little Jimi. Didn't mean to rattle your cage.

oh, that's alright ... it's not that hard to do ...
... heck, rattle anything you want to ... i'll still treat you like an adult ...

> Most of what i write has dry humor and not meant to offend anyone.

my brother used to always tell me that the path to a black eye was paved with good intentions ... that's my dry humor ...

> In the future use that for reference.

sure.

> Who knows? Maybe some day you can vote for me.

maybe someday i could run as your opponent.

> :) sorry if I touched a nerve.

don't be ... that's what nerves are for ...

doesn't dr. bob have a humor board for you to try?
it makes me feel like folks are being disempowered when we mix absurdism with politics.

how does it make you feel?

Bobby and Bob,
i wrote:

i really really did not intend this to sound like a threat.
really.

it was always loving brotherly advice against using my good intentions as a defense for my actions.

(and i am doing it again.)!

but i would like to take back the assaultive implications in my brother's quotation. i wrote thoughtlessly and i know better.
even with him (his name is Bob) it was always a metaphorical black-eye.
sorry 'bout that.
really,

You wish the democrats would nominate someone you liked? There's the same problem here with the ALP. I suppose it's Rupert Murdoch, what he has done to the sense of political possibility, I'm sure you know what I'm trying to say about what he is responsible for.

In the USA though you have wonderful magazines. I read two, Harpers and the New York Review of Books. (Not mainstream, of course.) Nothing like that here.

We should always vote for the person. John McCain is proof of that for me. Old fashioned things, appropriated by this lot (Bush, Blair, Howard), like values, decency, concern for the common good, you'd have things to add to the list.

There was something that really got me when Bush met Howard. Bush said 'He's got good values'. What can you say? Hubris? Arrogance? That's just a start.

Declan
