as u.s. law now stands our current regime could designate them all as "illegal enemy combatants" and sentence them retroactively to execution.
isn't "civilian" the standard cover for terrorists?
what were they doing in bush's war zone anyway?
i'd hate to be cynical.

Apparently, another thing that's happening in Iraq is segregation of the country into three more ethnically homogeneous zones. Sunnis flee their homes in "Shi'a" areas, Shi'a flee their homes in Sunni areas-- driven out by intimidation, threats and killings by death squads (often although not always the government militias or police) in these areas--
so that the country is becoming much more three separate countries yoked uncomfortably together.
Plus I"m incredibly concerned about Afghanistan-- as someone mentioned this country is in peril.
But, I"m going to withdraw from this thread. I hope I haven't offended anyone here. No disrespect meant to others in my comments.
