It's a shame that our recent Presidents have not been gifted at the art of spleen.
Nixon could hurl an insult well: "Pink down to her underwear," he said of his opponent for Senate during the height of the Cold War.

"He is simply a shiver waiting for a spine to crawl up."

It doesn't have to be only about Mr Howard.

He wasn't a great PM, but I couldn't help loving him.

He would stand in front of the Liberals and say words to the effect....

The reason for the state of this country is the quality of the people who have led it. Look at you! You are a pathetic excuse for a ruling class etc etc

I shiver, anyway.

This world is so frightening, and from the looks of things will become very much more so.

It is not the 4,000 dead Americans and the uncounted dead Iraqis, suitable for the democratic experiment, that is awe inspiring.

It is this power in the service of such trivialty.

What's not to love about that statement!! (nm) » Sigismund

Yes, I hadn't realised how much it angered me.

And the fact that they don't count Iraqis.

That too.

Uncounted.
