Posted by analine on October 11, 2002, at 2:00:20

hi everyone, i would appreciate if anyone could share some thoughts on how to build self-esteem. i've been to two counsellors already and they didn't really try anythign to help. i'm going to a new counsellor in 2 weeks and i want to have some ideas on what to do with them.
thanks in advance for anything you can tell me.

Two thoughts come to mind:

1. Spend time around people who believe in you and like you. Stay away from people who are unjustly critical of you or who don't appreciate you.

2. Do things you're good at and enjoy. Do things that are meaningful to you.

These might sound obvious but depressed people (such as me) don't always do these things.
