when i was 15 i took some LSD and also inhaled some nitrous oxide. after inhaling the nitrous oxide, i had a hallucination that i had died; i started screaming and was terrified. i, after a minute or two, realized that i was still alive but i have never been the same since. from the moment of that traumatic event until today (i'm now 30) i have been suffering from a never ending stream of worry/anxiety.
does anyone else believe that there anxiety disorder was brought on by a traumatic event or possibly drug usage?
explain your first experience with anxiety?
did something happen that "changed" you or was it a slow, gradual development?

I have a phobia of having my blood pressure taken. After a lifetime of low blood pressure, my bp was high during the first year of the depression. The incompetent doc I was seeing had me on a med that elevated my bp. For ten months, I did everything to get it lowered but to no avail. After changing docs, (a long story) getting the bp under control, tackling the depression.... I came out on the other side. But, I am phobic about having my BP taken and have resumed therapy to conquer it.
So, in my case, a phobia developed in response to a situation.

>Hi there,
I've pretty much always had anxiety, but I definitely believe that a few traumatic events in my life had made mine worse.
It almost seems like it takes some time to go by before you realize how badly those traumatic events really affected you.
While mine happened to me I seemed to handle them pretty well. Then a few years later I feel the effect. It is sort of slow and gradual.I would recommend talking to someone about it, to figure out how to relive your anxiety. Good luck :)
