i've seen this in the subject lines of some posts and i'm wondering what it applies to. i guess i'm thinking of posting something where i'm wondering if i should use it.

It's a warning to other posters that the material in the post may lead to destructive behaviors. i.e. if you self-injure, and are feeling particularly vulnerable, then you would skip over the post that says: SI: may trigger.
