Recently I called my T. and told her I was not coming back. I tried to get an appt. with someone else but couldn't. Old T. wrote me a letter saying she was frustrated in not being able to disccus this. So I went back. We talked about why I wanted to quit. I basically told her it was because she lied to me awhile ago about wanting to cut me back. I met her bookkeeper over the weekend and she told me my T. has recently become semi-retired. I think that is why she wanted to cut me back. We then had a therapy session and for the first time ever she switched from psychoanalytic to cognitive-behavioral. Surprisingly I was able to make an important change in something. Together we figured out a way for me to be on time for work. For the rest of the week and without any difficulty I was EARLY. I have NEVER been early and have only been on time rarely. I wonder what made her switch her treatment tactics after 2and 1/2 years of me telling her that my childhood was only marginally traumatic. She kept pressing for more childhood info. and I just cannot remember anything worth telling her. I would rather someone help me in the here and now. If I can keep making baby steps like above I might get somewhere. [I start DBT the end of March] I just cannot figure out why she switched mid-stream. terrics

Oh, it is really not a big deal, just a miracle. She asked what I did before I left the house. I drink coffee and read. She suggested that I have my second cup of coffee at work and bring my book. This way I would still have free time and also be on time. terrics

Wonder why your t changed approaches like that. Anyway I'm glad it brought you such a big instant (almost) benefit!
