Rumination--I think too much about conflicts that I will never have with people who would never say the things I think in my head.
A psychologist told me to look into thought blocking. But I can't find anything on the internet about it. Everyone seems to think it's a bad thing. But she says people who ruminate like I do use it. So does anyone know where to find information on rumination (not the whole throwing up thing, the thinking thing) or on how to do this whole thought blocking thing?
Thanks.

From my understanding, thought blocking is telling yourself "Stop" and/or visualizing a stop sign.
So, when you have reoccuring thoughts, you tell yourself stop and/or visualize a stop sign.

My T uses an elastic band on her wrist to do this. When she starts thinking about what she wants to stop thinking about, she snaps the band as a physical reminder to jolt her mind back to her new thought pattern.
