I've been in psychotherapy for quite a few months now and am coming up against some sexual issues regarding both my past and my relationship with my pdoc. My pdoc is opposite sex; feel he's not being objective enough; also I have strong love/hate feelings towards him. Other issues... anyone have experience here?

Susan, I've certainly had my share of transference feelings towards my therapist. Mine are of the maternal sort. And because I care deeply for him, I'm also capable of being hurt deeply by him, and so I get very angry at times.
What are you afraid he's not being objective enough about?
And have you read the book "In Session"? It is a really good book about the feelings that patients get for their therapists. I've found it very helpful. Mostly to discover what I *didn't* feel about my therapist. :)

Transference is awful, but it's helped me know myself much better too.
Sometimes I really wonder how doctors do it; how do they handle it? If you like, you can see my message at the bottom of the board re: safe place, I'm talking to vwoolf about stuff too.
I'm going to request that book from my library. I noticed others talking about it.
Thank you!
