I was in a Normal Home today

and I just couldn't help thinking, feeling, what's it like to have this lovely, ordered life? These two empty-nesters who love each other, who care about and support each other, whose children are secure in their knowledge of their parents' support; what's it like to be one of them? To have planned your lives to be what they are. My God it hurt.

Susan, it must have hurt to have seen that - do you think their lives are really that rosey?? I remember in school going to do homework at other people's houses and REALLY wanting to invite myself to stay and be part of their family and not mine.

Thanks for empathizing, and for the hugs.
I'm not always so hurt by "normal", I just really always wanted normal I guess. I realize nobody has a trouble-free life, but it's the steadiness I crave, the affection, being able to give of yourself and receive from others. I mean what's that like, to be happy and comfortable in yourself?
