Some of us just seem to wander willy-nilly

Posted by Susan47 on September 14, 2004, at 19:25:07

through our lives, no plan at all, just braving the latest internal storm.

Count me in as a willy-nillyer. Life would be so boring if I had to follow a plan.

I am wanderer (that has never had a plan) and willy nilly is my direction!

life is but a walking shadow
A poor player
who struts and frets his hour upon the stage
and then is heard no more

. . . which is better a lot of times than having a plan that you stick to through thick and thin. And then get to the goal and say, what was I doing that for? Just for the sake of having a plan?

Some of us even plan bathroom breaks

Life plans can be good and bad. I'm a planner, organizer, scheduler. I like to control things by having them fall neatly into time slots. But now that things are much more muddled up (who said recognizing what you are feeling was going to make this better?!) planning is almost essential for my functioning. I need lists for EVERYTHING...

That was beautiful. Where'd it come from? I'd say it was William if it weren't for the punctuation.. did he punctuate? See, I'm showing my complete ignorance. BTW, YAY for us willy-nillyers!!!

Yup, it is Shakespeare. It is either Lear or Macbeth. I think it is Lear. Thats why I didn't reference, becuase I couldn't remember (insert embarrased emoticon here).

The next two lines are:

'Tis a tale told by an idiot full of sound and fury
signifying nothing'.

as you can tell I am not a bundle of joy at times. I memorised the passage when I was at school, ah yes and there it is...

'Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow
creeps in this petty pace from day to day
to the last syllable of recorded time
and all our yesterdays have lighted fools
the way to dusty death
out out brief candle.
Life is but...'

Yeah, it is Lear in the storm :-)
