Prognosis for bipolar disorder

Posted by skeptic on November 17, 2004, at 10:28:26

For others on this board who suffer from bipolar disorder, I have two questions.

I'm wondering if any of you have found some pattern to your mood disorder (e.g. seasonal). Also, has the disorder waxed and waned, gotten worse, milder, etc., through the years? Have the cycles gotten shorter, longer, more predictable, less predictable?

I'm not quite yet 30, I've had two rather scary manic episodes and seem to be in a brief (relative) respite right now.

Sorry I can't help much other than to say over time I learnt to recognise when one of my episodes was growing, which allows you to brace yourself for the worst and put some safety precautions in place. Which, of course, is never a bad thing.
