I told her that during Thanksgiving dinner I felt like standing on my chair and screaming at my brother *you inflicted emotional damage* and to my parents *you enabled him.* *Thanks to you I have no self esteem and have hated myself since the first breath I took.*
She actually applauded me. She said I am making progress because I didn't blame myself for anything. Though she doubts I hated myself on my first breath.
Even if I don't actually say it to them, I am not internalizing the pain, I am letting it out without self blame.
I do feel good.

Wow, that sounds great!
Great that you are placing the blame where the blame is due.
And great that you resisted the urge to tell them what was on your mind. I say that because if it leads to tears then one tends to regret having said it and internalise the blame again.Family holidays are hard work.
I am glad we don't have thanksgiving.
Christmas is bad enough.

I'm so glad for you Poet. I love that warm and fuzzy feeling when my T points out my progress. I just want to hug it tight and hold on to it for as long as I can.

CLAP! CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!
Good for you. Verbalizing to your therapist, and us, *is* a great step forward to letting go of the self-blame. I'm so impressed!
Watch the wine at Thanksgiving, it may promote the urge to blurt. You want to say what needs saying when you are ready and strong enough.
But you are doing really well. Leaps and bounds forward. Maybe 2005 will totally be your year!

Hi Alexandra,
Family holidays are hard work. Having to work hard in therapy to survive them doesn't seem fair.
I don't want to think about Christmas, there are lots of ghosts from Christmas past that I need to deal with. Ugh.

Hi littleone,
Progress has been so slow, that it really did feel so good to have her acknowledge it. What's more surprising is that I realized it.

Hi Daisy,
I admit I drank way too much, but managed to keep myself in check. I hope 2005 is the year for me and everybody on babble.
