Hi, this is a dumb question i know, but its either medication brain fog or I just dont know much about this stuff. what exactly is a DOCTOR OF PSYCHOLOGY?? Is it a therapist who cannot prescribe medication? I have recently aquired insurance and have already been seeing a pdoc (who i get my meds from) but i am wondering if i should see a psychologist too? i need advise.

That is not a stupid question at all. A psychologist does not have a medical degree thus they cannot give out meds like a Psychiatrist can. They give great talk therapy and other forms of therapy. It is nice to have one and not just take meds because you can get at the issues that may be causing your need for meds..That is my experience.

To add to what fallen said... A PsyD is a psychologist who is a doctor of psychology rather than a PhD who is a psychologist who is a doctor of philosophy. They basically do the same thing, but there are slight differences in their training. Both are highly trained in doing talk therapy.
