What Amount of Family History affects who you are?

So, for example, if your mother talked about watching her mom digging mass graves at gunpoint .. and so on and so forth .. enough for a book, really ... how much does that plus your birth time and everything, everything you find out .. about yourself .. is a gift ... the negative things can be gifts ...

I'm not sure I understand about the negative things being gifts. Can you explain a bit more? It sounds like a healthy attitude.

Everyone's life is made up of positive and negative events .. what I referred to as "things" is the knowledge of the negative events and how they scarred those in my life .. the lives of people who've gone before me, people who make up my family .. friends .. co-workers .. all the things they have been through that have brought them to this point in their passage, and yours and mine as well .. all the things that hurt us so badly, things that maimed us emotionally.. we can make them meaningful and turn the meaning in a positive direction .. perhaps we pass the teaching on to our children, so that when they confront their own demons, they have our strength and loving understanding to fall back upon, to make them even stronger ... life can be unbelievably trying, and I would not wish to go through the tortures of many of the humans I share the planet with, but who go through unbearable trials, mind and body-breaking experience, and somehow survive, to come back whole again ... to pass on the knowledge of their true selves, and I can be here with a whole mind and an open heart to receive that experience and pass it on again ... the ability to trust and love again when demons have broken your spirit, that's the gift.

That does sound like a healthy way to look at things.

I'm always fascinated how some people go through trials and it's like tempering glass, they get stronger.
