Oh goody

Posted by Lindenblüte on November 9, 2006, at 13:26:38

My T is still trying to fit me into her schedule, and it's tough, because the session right before me on monday always runs SO late. She said she feels really uncomfortable and apologizes. The first time it happened, I was seriously stressing, b/c i thought *I* messed up the time.

today I'm sched for later in the afternoon.

I just got 2 voicemails- first one said she couldn't remember if she scheduled me for 4 or 4:30. She would prefer to see me at 4:30, but then she was worried that she told me to come at 4.

My appt. card and calendar say 4:30.

Her voice is so apologetic and tad distressed. She apologizes about a half-dozen times and says that whenever I can come in just let her know, and she'll work something out.

2nd voicemail is somewhat brighter, says- come either 4:00 or 4:30- she's rearranged schedule. disregard earlier message.

isn't that cute- now I have 2 voicemails from my T. I can save them, incase she ever pisses me off, I can listen to her apologizing over and over again. If I ever piss her off, I can listen to the 2nd one, where she says- it's fine, everything is sorted out- she's really looking forward to seeing me whenever I am available.

:)

I think my T is having "one of those days"

((((((T)))))))

Haha linden.. thats interesting. For some reason, it strikes me as really cute. Poor T, all stessed out and all over the place.

Awesome job with your attitude about it.. I think I might have paniced. Laurie, my old T, has called me several times over the years because she had no clue what time she had given me. Pfftt. :)

Silly Ts.

We had a really good session, too.

She got really perky at one point and pointed out that I had just said two very interesting things right in a row.

1) I always thought my family was pretty healthy and stable, but a little eccentric

T: and so you think your parents had a good relationship?

2) Oh, not at all. I wish they had gotten divorced. (blah blhablha...) T interuppts:

T: do you see how statements 1) and 2) are contradictory?

Li) um, not really- I mean... um... well yeah. I guess it's pretty messed up. but...?

T: I'm SO sorry for interrupting you like that- I must have seemed like I was one of your family members, when I interuppted like that.

Li) Oh, no- I like it when people challenge me- didn't bother me at all

[note to self: remind myself that I enjoy challenges when I go present my research to a neurotic neurologist's lab group tomorrow- now THERE's a dysfunctional family!!]

My T started a bit early with me, and ended a bit late. and it was a really really good session :)

:)

ear :) ear

I'm glad you had a good session, and extra glad that you have such versatile phone messages. :)

I love that you have her voice to keep. I find it so helpful sometimes.

And I'm glad you had a good session. That is especially good right before the weekend.

I have trouble with my internal narrative not matching the facts sometimes too. I hear myself and think, "what? what am I saying? sheesh..."

Daisy- you're like my therapy mentor :)

I wish I had you around to debrief me after a session. You seem to know so much- I'm not sure I'm jealous of your therapist, but I sure wouldn't mind having access to more of your experience and expertise.

yours,
-Li

Glad to help. Makes me smile that *I* who so often laments "I'm so confused!" can add clarity to anyone else's experience.

Also glad to hear you aren't jealous - it means you are bonding with your own therapist. I sometimes worry about posting because it feels a little like bragging. But it isn't meant that way...

anyway. :)
