...of me when I was a small child. I felt anxious and depressed while going through those pictures. I don' know why, but I did.
Makes me think, maybe it's better to leave the past behind, and rather live in the present and future.

If you're able to leave the past behind, if it doesn't rear it's ugly head in your current life, sure, I can see why you don't think it's necessary to excavate something that isn't causing you any trouble.

the question is...will the past stay behind and leave you alone in the present and future?
It is normal and expected to feel sad when remembering a past that might have been filled with less than optimal experiences. If you can put the pictures away and go forward, great. If not, perhaps there are still things that haven't been dealt with yet.

Yup, if you living OK. Leave it alone. There may be negative stuff. It may be just simple kidstuff that wasn't handled well. But if its not interfering in your life, I'd leave it.
If it haunts you to the point of affecting your life, then I guess you gonna have to figger out what you gonna do next at that point.

Really I have boxes of pics and can't look at any of them as it makes me sad. So better to leave them alone? Phillipa

Hi Jamal Spelling
I don't have any photos of myself when I was a child, they are all still in a box at my parents house. I threw out my high school yearbooks so I have nothing from later childhood, either. I think that if those pictures make you feel sad and depressed, put them away until you can figure out why they affected this way.
I just don't like what I looked like as a child, no surprise I don't like what I look like as an adult either. Can you say body image issues? Sigh.
