Just for an update on the new pdoc.
I had my first appointment with her today and this time there seems to be a good match. She seemed very personable but not smarmy (if you know what I mean).
As for the meds, she didn't force any more ADs on me and seemed to agree with my reasoning that they were unlikely to help much. She's open to prescribing valium (or another benzodiazopine or an anti-psychotic, such as seroquel) where needed. So, all in all it went as well as I could have hoped.
My T is back from his holiday. He never went to Syria in the end due to the instability there. Instead he went to Morocco. Much safer you'd think but as it turns out there was a bomb attack in Marrakesh a week ago at a cafe on a famous square and he happened to be at the exact same cafe (it's popular with tourists), sitting on the terrace, the day before the bomb attack.
I'm surprised he told me about it and I'm glad I didn't read about the bomb at the time as I would have worried (understatement). 16 people died in the bomb and many more very badly injured. I have the feeling that he himself is a bit traumatised by it - the realisation that that could have been him. I'm just glad he is back and safe (hopefully he'll stick to his European walking holidays next time). Of course the odds of something like that happening are so small - it still feels like he was incredibly lucky - a day later and he probably wouldn't be here.

Again, sometimes they really ought to figure out that some things aren't in our best interests to know! Unless of course he was trying to tell you he'd learned his lesson and would take better care of his wellbeing (and hence your wellbeing).
Your pdoc sounds promising. I wish I could find one so suitable.

No, I don't think it was that, although he did e-mail me as soon as he was back - a reassuring "I'm back and ok" e-mail (I hadn't e-mailed him first, so it struck me as unusual that he'd taken the initiative - I don't recall him doing that before).
I don't know, maybe he is becoming laxer in his use of disclosure, although I've questioned the helpfulness of some of his disclosure's in the past. Mostly I find it makes him more approachable/personable - it counterbalances his Freudian aloofness.
The pdoc had actually bothered to read my file - something I have the feeling the previous one never really did. I hope you find one that works for you - have you had any luck yet finding another to interview?
