Here's a new one for me...

Posted by judy1 on January 10, 2001, at 0:28:00

I wrote Dr. Ivan Goldberg about my worsening symptoms (specifically how my mood episodes are being triggered so easily) and he came back with a diagnosis of hysteroid dysphoria. Well the treatments the same- psychotherapy, mood stabilizers and MAOI's (which I have never taken). I tried to access his site to learn more but for some reason I couldn't. Anyone know anything about this? Thank you! Judy P.S. As you can see I'm getting desperate.

I found it, a personality disorder along the lines of hystrionic, etc. Perhaps he was overly polite and calling me borderline. Sometimes I think that some personality disorders are a psychiatric scam- does anyone else? Thanks, Judy

Borderline is a legit dx. It can be a catch all, too. This does not mean it is not a legit dx.

It is important to understand what "borderline" means in this context. BPS people have symptoms
that fall into the catogorys of other conditions, hince "borderline". Perhaps it would be better to say personality disorder with borderline symptoms.
Borderline does not refer to the personality being borderline.

But most people I know would say they think my personality is borderline. :-)
