Lost in Monterey...not yet

Posted by niborr on March 6, 2001, at 18:37:06

Hi Everyone
Here I am in Monterey. Dick is at his conference. We left CT on Sunday instead of Monday because of the anticipated storm.. I've been working on my science fiction manuscripts today and we'll probably go out tonight. Yesterday was fabulous. We went to the Winchester house in the a.m. Then got some lemons from a tree, not from the supermarket. Incredible. Then in the p.m. it rained but we drove the 17-mile drive anyway...got out as much as we could. I saw seals on the beach waiting to have their babies, I think. They reminded me of one of my dogs.
Dick is able to keep in touch with his people because he gets his phone messages by remote access. He even got one call that needed a return, but new technology makes it easy.
Some news on the third book proposal--both HarperCollins and Broadway Books (a new one on me) are interested so far.
Take care of yourselves, everyone.
Robin

>Robin - you definitely made the right call leaving a day early. I've never been to Monteray. What's the temperature like now? Right now anyplace seems preferable to chilly, snowy New England, the place where winter never seems to end, and where you never get a whiff of spring until it actually arrives. Ksvt

Broadway is an affilite with either Norton or the conglomerate which St. Martin's Press is involved with, though I think that's proably Bedford. I used to be a book rep. on the College side (different from trade) and once interviewed with Norton in NY for a position in BC. The one other person in NY for the interviews got the position and it's been downhill for me ever since...for that and other reasons... Great publishing companies, nevertheless!!

Dick's third book is going to focus on the relationship between stress, anxiety and depression or something along those lines, is it not? Be great if he wanted to post some drafts here...

Enjoy the west!

Sante!
