Does anyone know the source of tightness in the chest and difficulty breathing? Is it some chemical?
Sometimes I feel like I can't get enough breath, is that because i've hyperventilated and my O2 levels are
so high is changed the pH of my blood and therefore decreased O2 to the brain? Or is it completely
psychological? I'm really trying to figure this whole thing out. I am taking remeron and it was helping
for the first 3 weeks, but the effects seem to have warn off and becasue of anxiety and breathing troubles
it led to a pretty bad spell of depression. I've been so very low and *everything* is making me angry.
Not an explosive angry, just a slow simmer that I am unhappy with everything in my life. The real relief
has been exercise, and I've been fortunate enough to drag my very very tired and depressed self
to the gym, otherwise I think I'd be under the covers right now in denial. I already had a meltdown twice
this week and ended up home in bed instead of being a productive employee. I don't know if my depressaion
caused my breathing troubles or the other way around. Sigh. I will be increasinf my dose of
remeron to 15 mg (I know, it's still a low dose). I've had real issues with this. I felt *so* good on 7.5 mgs
and felt like "I won", but after 4 weeks, I'm not feeling so good and feel like a failure and that I'm wimping
out and taking meds to feel better instead of fixing the problem. I know I need to get control
over the depression/anxiety before CBT can help, but I am just so frustrated....Thanks,
karen

Karen,
This really sounds like a symptom of panic attacks, and if that is the case then you need to find a shrink experienced with this disorder. The tapir board is a good place to start, benzos and CBT are very effective. I wish you well- judy

I am currently seeing a therapist as well as psychiatrist about this. I was just wondering if anyone knew
the physiological basis of the anxiety. I don't know whether to consider it a "panic attack" as it is rarely
acute. Generally, I feel badly all of the time. :(Thanks for your post,
Karen

Karen,
This should answer some of your questions. I guess the breathing aspect threw me (I HOPE you don't have this all the time) Take care, judy

Has other stuff been ruled out (have you had a physical recently)? I always think this is a good idea.
This is the end of the thread.
