I took 6 pills x10mg of clomipramine instead of the prescribed 2pills x 10mg. Please tell me what side effects I should expect. I took those 6 pills on Sunday night. So far I haven't been affected accept maybe a headache and being lethargic on Mon and Tues. Please give feedback on this.

If you're still with us then you shld be OK! You only took 60mg; I used to take 300mg/day w/o any problems.
Why did you take 6 caps? Clomipramine is usually raised in increments of 25mg (or less) every 5 days or so (putting it in perspective, you only went up by an extra 15mg above normal).

I tend to take it out on a punchbag!
I've asked this before; why is yr pdoc keeping you on such a low dose (20mg) when yr condition clearly hasn't remitted? 60mg wouldn't actually be a bad dose...

Thanks for being so helpful JahL! Um, he doesn't see a need, my pdoc I went to in Jan prescribed 10mg, my family doc raised it to 20mg in Feb and then, I went for a 3rd appt to my family doc and he said, "look, everytime you feel stressed out or anxious, I am not upping the dose, you are supposed to develop a natural coping mechanism." So far, I have no side effects whatsoever aside from vibrant/vivid dreams which I've had since taking this med. Well, I am TOO STUPID to really CARE for myself so I honestly DON'T CARE ANYMORE if I WILL GET BETTER OR NOT, I mean, I am TOO SCARED/INTIMIDATED TO EVEN ASK FOR a dose increase, so I WILL JUST SUFFER IN SILENCE I GUESS. FORGIVE MY ATTITUDE, I AM ACTING LIKE A BIG BABY, PERHAPS THAT'S WHAT I AM.

If I were you, I'd look for another doc... one who will listen to your needs. Either that or print out some clear, clinical information about an average therapeutic dosage and show your current doc that you are taking a low dose...
Good luck!

According to my "drug book", the usual adult dosage range of Anafranil (Clomipramine)is 50-150 mg/day, generally broken into several doses throughout the day... maybe copying similar info from another drug book and taking to your doc will help...

Technically speaking yr doc is talking b*ll*x. How does he propose you develop this mechanism? Through willing organic change in yr brain? His job is to treat the symptoms you present. Period.
The max rec'd dose of Clomip. is 250mg, which means there is a huge dosage range you are yet to explore. 20mg is the *min* dose for anything.

If you find your doc unapproachable/unhelpful, consider a change.
If yr pdoc insists on a treatment plan that clearly isn't working then you may want to review this also.
It's down 2 you.

> You're not stupid, you're depressed. If you could advocate for proper medical care for yourself
you wouldn't need the meds. Tho if you could get proper care out of these guys, ya might get a medal.
In a perfect world we could all find a great pdoc. In the meantime, beg, borrow, steal or cajole somebody
to go with you as your advocate. Grab the likeliest person you can find. Relative, friend, pastor --
even try looking for NAMI [National association for the mentally ill] and make them be your advocate.
they don't actually have to do much but make the points you're too bummed out to, and insist on the
proper treatment algorithm and dosage... Sometimes just having a concerned person with you makes all
the difference.
possible?
good luck.
