13 more sleeps till the gremlins are back at school. Will I make it? Will the teachers , janitors, or bus drivers go on strike? Will a tornado flatten the school?
The Labour Day weekend can not come quick enough!
I lost five days somewhere and I'm counting!

Willow, I'M COUNTING!!!! My kids go back to school this Monday!! Yaaaay!
Do you have the store "Staples" in Canada? They air a commercial every year at this time, singing "It's the most wonderful time of the year..." (Christmas carrol). Every year it makes me laugh.

whaaaaa! That's not fair! Why should I have to wait another week. How old are your children? My youngest starts grade one and this is probably the reason why I can't wait. He has been my bouncing baby boy, much to my grief sometimes.
One afternoon I had passed out on the couch. He shoved a bead up his nose. The ones the children use to make bracelets. It was so far up! The gp wasn't in his office so up to emerg I went. I proceeded to sleep there, and my bouncing boy continued to bounce around. The nurse gave the children popsicles. Turned out every doctor seemed to be on holidays, so the hours passed by.
Much to my relief someone noticed when he sneezed it out. I went to let the nurse know and thank them. She asked if it was still alive? She had heard me incorrectly and thought it was a bee!

Hysterical! This year is the first time I've heard it... I point it out to my daughter and laugh, and she crosses her arms and scowls at me...
The father spinning around in a little dance really gets me.. (altho - why is it a dad, usually it's moms who are tending the kids in summer... ?)
Anyway -

... because the moms aren't tending to the dads. Big babies!

Hi Willow!

He has been my bouncing baby boy, much to my grief sometimes. My oldest is 17 -she's brilliant, MENSA material -and flunked 9th grade several years ago! As a result, she goes to an "alternative" high school and is in between junior and senior. She's hoping to still be able to graduate this year. I also have a daughter entering 6th grade, which she almost failed to do this year through no fault of her own. Our school district is requiring all kids entering 6th grade to have at least started receiving the Hepatitis B vaccine, or they can't start school. I refuse to have her vaccinated because a local G.P. is vocally against it - it seems a teenage patient of his has been paralyzed from the vaccine. Unfortunately, he is not our GP, who says the vaccine is "not medically contraindicated", therefore will not sign an exemption for my daughter. So, long story shorter, I've had to make a liar out of myself and have her exempted on "religious grounds"! If they ask me "what religion?" I'll have to say "my own!" Just goes to show ya the lengths some people will go to to get their kids back in school! :-)

My little ones (going into 2nd and 4th grades) start on the 4th. Unfortunately, I have to survive my youngest's slumber party next weekend. She turns 7 on Sept.3. Provided I survive the weekend I'll be livin' it up. How will I entertain myself without them fighting?
This is the end of the thread.
