PB Open Null Pointer Exception?

Posted by Shar on August 22, 2001, at 22:14:21

Does anybody know what a null pointer exception error is? That's what I get when I try to get into PB Open chat. The chat screen still comes up, just I am not logged into it--no list of names of chatters, nothing on the gray screen, etc.

If anyone knows about this I'd be grateful for suggestions on what to do.

MIC,

I never did get a response back from Yahell on this for you, I will follow-up again. Just out of curiousity, how much RAM does your machine have?

xxoo,

Is this by chance the "use a bigger hammer" theory?

You may wanna check your browser settings. It's a Java Applet, (if I'm remembering((if that's a word)) correctly. Make sure you have Java Applets able to run.

I don't know which browser you are using, IE is Tools >Internet Options >Security > > >scroll down and find "Scripting" check to make sure Java Applets are enabled.

If that doesn't work, let me know, I'm a little zombie like tonight...

A case of "Moxie" is a nice touch.

A "Null pointer error" is a Java programming language syntax error and is usually the result of bad coding. It has something to do with passing parameters as reference in remote methods. In other words, it's nothing that either you or your equipment had done. Henceforth and nevermore, fuggetaboudit, unless it becomes a nuisance for which I suggest you contact Dr. Bob.

"Java" means "Just Another Vague Acronym," and was not meant to reference the beverage.

Everything I know comes from neptunian tabloids.

(an informed) kazoo
