Curious....Opinions?

Posted by Kristi on August 19, 2001, at 16:24:41

Do you think you can know.... I mean really know.... that it's about to be your time to go? (I don't mean self inflicted). I have had this heavy duty feeling for a couple of days now, that I am going to die. I dream it... I feel it....
I've gone so far as to sign a paper with my lawyer(I have a major lawsuit going).. that if I die, it goes to my brother.
Am I crazy? I guess we'll see........
Just venting,
Kristi

I don't know, the Inuit people up North seemed to have that iceburg thing down pretty well. But seriously, unless you have a terminal illness ,you probably won't know when it is "time to die". Do you want to die? It seems that you are somewhat fixated upon it by your comments (but those may have been off the cuff, I know sometimes I say things that later i know I don't mean). reverse the spin....tell yourself you want to live, then go out and see the life in nature all around you. sometimes, when I see dew on a spider web, or smell the rain after the storm has passed and the sun breaks back out. There is every reason to find some pleasure there. Let me know if any of this makes sense to you , and I will expound.

Kristi,

Interesting you would ask this question. I found out recently from my sister who is 55, that she always felt she would die young. She just knew it. She never planned anything because she figured she would be dead. She never expected to be old. And now, here she is 55. I think there is such a thing as premonition (paxvox can check my spelling) and at the same time I think it is always good to be prepared.

For me, I am working on balance. For example, if I felt a very strong premonition of death, I would do what you did, check in, make sure my affairs are in order and I would also wonder, is it my brain doing the twist again? Is this a symptom, like dejavu? If it persisted, I would talk to my pdoc about it.

Sometimes these doctors know the strangest things and make the most amazing connections from something that doesn't seem particularly connected.

Just wandering.

Kristi

Could it just be the dream? Sometimes when I have a bad dream, it leaves a bad aftertaste for days and even when I recall it. Write it off as a bad dream, you're not going anywhere because you're still needed here!!

STOMP, STOMP! (That's me pouting!)

I think that some people may be able to, but for me it was just a symptom of an anxiety disorder. There were a few times that I was just sure that I would not live to see the next day. Luckily I was 'dead' wrong (pun intended). I hope you are too.

Thanks everyone.....
I guess it is anxiety.... I've been thru a lot medically lately... and sometimes wish I was just a horse!!!!
I always had the feeling... thruout my childhood that I wouldn't live to my 30th b-day. I'm 33 now, so I guess I was wrong there. I just can't seem to shake this feeling that I'm about to die. So strange. I do have a few xanax in my cabinet... maybe I'll take one. thanks for your comments.....

kristi,

sorry to have jumped in on the thread late, but i didn't get a chance to read it until now.

i believe in premonition, but i also believe in anxiety! before i got on meds all i could think all day was "i am going to die, i am going to die"--do you have a problem with ruminating thoughts?

hope you are well.

I agree with sar before thinking it's a premonition, consider if you are in a seriousl anxious state. If you are in the middle of a lawsuit I would tend to think anxiety is a possibility.
