> So what about the women? Women's tennis is more interesting anyway--the serve does not rule all. Who do you follow and if you say Anna K, I'll throw up. (Besides, she hasn't played much this last year). Actually I think Mary Pierce is the coolest woman player, but she's been out a long time and won't be in the U.S. open. I'm pretty into Capriati's comeback thing because I remember watching her come on the circuit when she was fourteen. Venus Williams' play has also been pretty awesome. Seles is starting a good comeback also (best since her stabbing). I love the US open because I don't have to wake up at 3am to see it live. Also, the matches under the lights are really intense. I leave town for the second week so I can watch without feeling guilty that I'm not working.

I have to admit my interest in tennis is more in a betting capacity. I used to follow tennis but now what little interest I have in *anything* focusses more on boxing (boooo.) & soccer (the name you Yanks give to FOOTBALL-we had the name first!).

Caught some Wimbledon; especially since my bet (Rafter) made it to the final (& lost :-( ). That perked my interest up & I'll probably catch some of the US Open (which no doubt'll be on satellite @ 3 in the morning). My money's on Rafter (probably last chance of another major) & V. Williams with Roddick & Seles as each-ways. Roddick is the future.

Kournikova is a model who happens to play tennis quite well. Don't follow women's tennis so much, probably for the same macho reasons that I don't follow any womens' sport (boooo again). That said it would be nice to see Seles, who's pushing on a bit, win. It'd be good for my account too :-)

Well, now I should have "gotten" the betting part.
I mean Rafter (Australian) and Roddick (American) wouldn't exactly be coming home for you in any other way, I guess. < g >
