...and you are egocentric and selfish to be depressed when you have an essentially good life (ie, roof over head, clothing, etc.).
There has hardly ever been one of these little catch phrases that's been a help to me. I say, make them illegal.

Or, 'get off the pity pot' or any other phrase that has 'pity pot' in it, or even pity AND pot in it. One who utters such a phrase should be punishable by anyone who hears it....

Really? "Have you tried...." does upset you? Uhm, I will try to remember that - I tend to make suggestions (not giving advices!), such as
"Have you tried someone giving you a nice back-massage?"
