Hey Jules, how goes it? I have followed your dealings with alcohol for a bit now, perhaps even have offered a tidbit of advice. Do you actively seek to quit drinking all together, or just get the "upper hand"?

I don't remember enough of your history to know if you have ever tried Wellbutrin to help you. WB did allow me to give up drinking cold-turkey after about 20 years of fairly heavy consumption. So, any thoughts on that?

thanks for the interest and support paxvox. I've been on Serzone for about 2 weeks now and I think it is helping me with the alcohol. I've had some ups and donws, but I'm on the " up" now. Actually I think for me giving it up alltogether is the better choice. I have a strange thing happen when I have quit smoking in the past, I quit drinking with no problem, the last two times I quit cigs I used Welbutrin which helped me alot.

Though it took me several years of serious consideration, I decided it was time to quit drinking for lots of reasons. I have also found that with discipline, I can control my obsessive urges to do things. I guess you succeed when your "little voice" saying 'no' is louder than the one saying 'yes'. Then, as a reward, I feel accomlishment when I succeed at stopping a negative behavior, then I try to move on to another. I will continue to take the small steps toward "normality" as it were.
