I received the following notice from my IT dept and believe this is legitimate.
DO NOT Open any e-mail messages with "Hi' in the subject line.
These messages contain a VIRUS. Please delete them immediately and delete them from your DELETED folder as well. The new virus, the W32/GONER.A Worm just came out today. The virus propagates through e-mail masquerading as a Microsoft Windows Screen saver.
Goner arrives as an email with the subject line:
"Hi" and a message body text: "How are you ?
When I saw this screen saver, I immediately thought about you. I am in a hurry, promise you will love it!"
and the attachment: "gone.scr"
So far I've only heard about this hitting businesses, but I figure it's only a matter of time until it filters down to individual users. Just thought I'd give you a heads up.Greg
