Ladies take notice

Posted by Gracie2 on January 6, 2002, at 14:54:10

I used Norplant for 5 years and it worked quite well except for getting those suckers out of my arm - after all that time, they didn't want to come out. For the next couple years I used the Depro-Provera injection. The only reason I stopped is because somebody told me that I might lose weight. So I stopped the injections and not only did I not lose weight, I started having these feelings...terrible feelings. I was irritable, hungry, bloated, weepy and a horror to be around. Since I had not had a period in 7 years, it took awhile for me to realize that I was suffering from PMS.
Not to mention the unholy mess of the regular "monthlies". I ran straight to the doctor for a Depro shot and they will have to pry the syringe from my cold, dead fingers before I quit Depro injections again. Just my opinion.

I was on Depro, but the most effective part of it was my complete loss of a sex drive. Sex seemed the equivalent of having someone stick their finger in your ear. My boyfriend at the time was not thrilled.

Anywho - I have terrible periods, and found that Prozac really did alot to help alleviate the PMS. I can usually tell I am about to get my period when AT&T commercials make me weepy or I contemplate driving ten hours to settle an arguement. Unfortunately, Prozac also made me a walking Zombie, so now I hang out on Zoloft, which seems to be working, but doesn't give me the prozac-vacation from PMS. My two cents!

I like your description of PMS. My mother is going through menospause and as she stated "for 48 hours she contemplated how to start a war," and this happened regularly despite not having a period. She claims that it is the moon that has this control over her, that all these years it had little to do with her period.

With parents like mine I fear there is little hope for me. HEE HEE!
