Beire-dei, dear, have you read "Sin & Syntax: How to Craft Wickedly Effective Prose" by Constance Hale?
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/drbobsvirte00-20 (Reviews by other readers were good.)The book sounds fascinating but that wouldn't necessarily mean it is good. I'm curious as to what you think before I spend money on it. It's not expensive but I'm very careful with my money to make it stretch further.

In reply to Beardy - about a 'grammar language' book??, posted by IsoM on June 11, 2002, at 0:05:21
I took a peek, but it's hard to say. I'm probably more strict, but I like her style. I teach in a similar way—bones are the outline, flesh is the words, muscles are verbs, etc. I like Karen Elizabeth Gordon's The Transitive Vampire, though it's old.
As a book junkie, my advice is to buy it. You can always learn something from a book, even if it's that the author is an idiot!

(I may get this myself, so thanks for the idea!)
