I have heard that the anti depressent Effexsor can be effective in the cessation of smoking. I have also heard that the dosage is low and that there should not be sideeffects. Does anybody know anything about this, or has anybody had experience with this drug used in this form?

It's Wellbutrin I've heard about for that. Effexor often has LOTS of side effects, even at low dosage. Wellbutrin can have side effects too. Either way, many side effects go away after a couple of weeks. Some others stay, and you have to do with (e.g.: constipation, night sweats, bruxism,...). It's no fun, but it's normal. If you know about it, you won't worry as much as someone who's clueless as to what's happening to them. It's probably worth going through to stop smoking anyway.
If you do take Wellbutrin (or Zyban - same thing), DO NOT take kava kava (an herb supplement), as some unexplained deaths seem to be linked to the concurrent use of both.

gives me something challenging to do apart from fixing my pc software after I deleted very important windows files with norton commander DUH!

I saw your redirect, but I wasn't sure smoker would follow us there... he/she's new and perhaps not used to the classification of messages on different boards... I thought DrBob would jump in and redirect for real, but I guess he's on vacation or something =:-)
