Does anyone feel they have an unusual sense of humor as a result of depression? For example, enjoying very dry sarcasm, puns, oxymorons....just wondering if i have more material to discuss with my therapist...hehehehe...

Yeh,I think it was Mark Twain who said "Tragedy over time equals humor" It happens to a lot of us survival I guess... I saw a Christmas card by a mentally Ill cartoonist..his name is Callahaghn I think who probably only didn't get strung up by the P.C crowd because he is mentally ill, But I loved it, It was called *Christmas in the Psych ward*
The patients were in Choir position in their blue Gowns singing "Do you hear what I hear?"

I remember a Valentine's Day card a couple of decades ago which upset many
people and which was later pulled from the market:Roses are red
Violets are blue,
I'm schizophrenic
And so am I.
Regards,
Mr Beev

Actually, I think it's the sense of humor that separates those who "survive" from those who succumb.
I have found that if you can't laugh at life, it will take the life out of you. Whereas BY laughing at life, we garner some sublime victory of sorts, even if short-lived.
Too, I have also discovered that if people cannot laugh at themselves, then they are not funny. Some of my heartiest guffaws have been at my own foibles!
ANDDDD........ if you belive what "they" say, laughing has therapeutic properties that makes one live longer, healthier lives.
So, here's to a jolly belly-rolling, tear-making knee slapping sense of humor.

Hi. If I'm not mistaken, I think it's John Callahan. Isn't he the quadriplegic? He is brilliant! One of my favorite cartoons is one he did a while back. It's a picture of a church with a sign outside that reads: "Beware of DOGMA." Shall I post that on the PB Faith board?
From what I understand, Callahan used to live dangerously. He drank and/or took all kinds of illicit drugs and ended up in a nearly-fatal automobile crash. As a result of that accident, he was almost totally paralyzed. I believe he draws using a pen in his mouth. Correct me if I'm wrong. I think that's the one you're talking about.

I think he has a website. I'm going to log on and see if I can get some of his books.
And what about Gary Larson? Let's not forget Gary Larson.
This is the end of the thread.
