isn't suicide child abuse?

Posted by beardedlady on September 5, 2002, at 6:58:42

I sat outside my car crying yesterday after I heard about a woman who packed her nine-year-old daughter and her dog into her car and purposefully ran into a tree, attempting suicide--and murder--but only succeeding in the murder of her daughter.

You're right. I have only wanted to die a few times in my life, but they were fleeting and replaced by visions of my beautiful girl growing up without a mother. So I don't really understand what it is to be in so much mental anguish that a person could even think about doing something like this.

But it makes me sick. And it makes me angry. And I just felt like saying that.

that is if a child survives a parent's suicide. (nm)

That's a loaded question for me Beardy, my father committed suicide (but he also did some terrible things alive). Yes, my siblings and I will never recover- they feel anger and I fear what I feel. I think the parent that tries to take their children with them honestly feel they are better off- I guess I think it's something of a psychotic break- and once you experience that nothing makes any sense in this world. It's all very sad.... take care, judy
