I rented HOLLYWOOD ENDING, a fairly recent Woody Allen movie. It was OK. I liked the earlier Woody Allen movies better. He's too predictable now. Has anyone seen any good movies recently, either on video or in the theaters?

OK, I *loved* "Snatch". It was directed by Guy Ritchie (sp?). It is a heist movie; several of the actors have accents and I had to pay attention and really listen, but it was worth it. Hysterically funny! This one has been out a while; I have it on video.
*Disclaimer: This is a rated R movie (I think) with very nasty language and quite a violent story line.
On the other end of the spectrum, I thought Jimmy Neutron was really cute.

The way I understood it, a "Beautiful Mind" was about an insane man who overcame his pyschosis by sheer willpower, and I consider that to be as realistic as most of the crap that Hollywood churns out - you know, where all the women are blond, skinny, and puffy-lipped, like Cameron Diaz. Finally I sat down to watch it, at the urging of my sister, and I thought it was great. I wasn't aware that it was a true story, and I appreciated that it portrayed the fact that an extremely intelligent person - a genius - might also suffer from mental illness. I've long believed that great creative ability and high intelligence is often linked to mental illness.
Just my opinion.

I recently saw "The Secretary." It deals with self-mutilation and S&M, so it's really cutting edge (no pun intended). The acting is astounding. It has a strong theme of "follow your heart." It's one of the best films I've seen in a long time.
