If I remember correctly, your pdoc appointment was today. How did it go?

Thanks for remembering, babycakes. You are
a sweetie pie. It went fine and now, a week
later on increasing topamax I am feeling better
(a wee bit stupid) but better. Not suicidal anymore.
Definitely not hospital material. Amazing what some
chemical action can do. So we're just going to keep
going up on this topamax stuff and hopefully keep
improving. I asked her 'what about an antidepressant, what
about the remeron?" which I was scared to death of, because
it's basically what put me in the panicky suicidal state
(I think anyway) and she said "well let's just wait and see, you
may not even need an antidpressant, you may just be able to
get away with just a mood stabilizer", and I said "It's hard
to imagine not having to take an antidepressant" and she said "Let's
just wait and see" and I said "okay". So that's where it stands.
I do feel okay so far on just the mood stabilizer. It's hard to gauge though
because I'm just so happy not to be feeling suicidal. How are YOU, most thoughtful one?

I'm doing well, really. Don't know how long it will last, but I'm enjoying it.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the mood stabilizers work on their own for you. They are wonderful things if your depressions are of the agitated, jump out of your skin, everything seems too much, feel everything too deeply sort. I am occasionally tempted to try an ssri again, but the mood never lasts long enough for me to actually do it. And the nice part is that mood stabilizers don't interfere with your ability to feel, or with your sexuality. So best of wishes to you being able to, well, stabilize on mood stabilizers alone. :)

cyclothymic...

I sure hope so! So far, so good...Glad you are doing
well too...I guess we're basically on a similar combo...
(You're on depakote and klonopin, right? and I'm on topamax
and navane (and anti psychotic b/c my pdoc is opposed to
prescribing the benzo's...but I think it's basically the
same idea...calming the anxiety component)....
This is the end of the thread.
