Just fed up

Posted by NikkiT2 on November 18, 2002, at 11:15:06

I've been feeling so sick for the past 3 months and its getting worse.. I decided that, seeing as I have run out of celexa, I would see what its like celexa free and whether its that causing my nausea... 5 days on and I feel even sicker!!!

I am just so damned fed up of all this. I told my pdoc in no uncertain terms that I didn;t want to be on an ssri as i didn';t think they agreed with me, yet he put me on celexa, teeling me it wasn't an ssri... yet it is.. and now I'm hitting withdrawal and feel all wobbly.. no where near as bad as effexor or paxil withdrawal, but still there..

and this week is sooo busy i can't just sit and wallow.. tomorrow is my husbands birthday, wednesday some friends are coming up and a friend is staying over night, and then thursday is my birthday.. can I put it all off a week??!!

*sighs* just needed a good whinge!!!

Nikki:

You probably shouldn't quit a med cold turkey. Can you decrease the dose a little at a time? I've heard some docs do a day on, a day off, two days on, two days off. It's a weird way to wean, though. Maybe you can just slowly decrease the dose, week by week. (It takes a long time, but it could be worth it.)

Is there anything that relieves the nausea? Like maybe, oh, I don't know, chocolate? Maybe you can at least have a reason to eat comfort foods.

Can you take an anti-nausea med with it, for the time being, so you're not so sick this week?

I ran out of celexa last thursday and haven't been able to face the doctors... I *know* I must go... but I simply hate it there and can't face it...

I've tried anti nausea pills, but nothing at all seems to help. Its a strange neausea.. not much in the stomach, but it hits really hard and I spend a minute or so retching really hard... then it goes for a while, then hits again. Itys worse after eating a meal, or when hungry (!!), or when smoking (I;m down from 20 a day to about 7 a day!!)... been going on quite a whhile now.

the celexa withdrawal aint too bad.. nothing int he league of effexor for me, just a little wibbly at times.. fell over after getting out of bed this morning, just everything span and I landed on my bum!!!
I need to see my doc about so many things I think I'm stressing he'll write me off as a hypochondriac... I have an ear infection, sex was really painful and I bled a little, the sickness, about my pet buffolo hump and he'll want to weigh me!!!!

Well, i can't go tomorrow as you have to ring at 8am for an appointment and go when ever they tell you... and hubby (its his birthday) has the day off and woul dkill me for ruining his lie in!!

Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

At least I see my psychologist tomorrow - she'll sort me out and give me perspective again!!

Thanks.. hope you're feeling brighter

~~~~~~~~~`Nikki, you've said before that you aren't very assertive when it comes to telling docs what you're thinking and feeling. Maybe you didn't yell it loud enough in this idiots ear or perhaps the daft bloke is hard of hearing.:)
Still, the nausea could be part of feeling anxiety all the time. I am nauseous constantly due to my panic/anxiety disorder and take an anti-nauseant quite often to deal with it. It can't hurt you to try one. I think you have something that will do the trick in the UK.
~~~~~~~You can do it honey. I've seen you do some damned hard things and you'll manage this too. The anticipatory anxiety about something is always 100 times worse than the actual event. Just try not to take it all in at once. Deal with one small thing at a time and you'll not get overwhelmed.
Hugs and love hun

PS Finally saw HP CoS. Was a little disappointed, sadly.

RE : fell over after getting out of bed this morning, just everything span and I landed on my bum!!!

--->Your ear infection might have had something to do with that. particularly if you had just got out of bed. I find my balance is very keyed in to my vision, an blurry eyes and an ear infection might cause that. Just a thought.

as for sickness, cold turkey as you know doesnt taste as nice as it sounds. so perhaps think about seeing the docs if you feel its getting to bad. As for sickness cures I like Fryed egg or crispy bacon, I find they help. but then again I those are the parts of an english breakfast, which is the cure for the english morning (hangover). So maybe that only works on alcohol induced sickness.
ah well off to bed

Hi babe.. i appear to jave recived an envelope with your handwriting on this morning!!! *grins* You are such a star!! :o)

We were going to see CoS this afternoon (we were meant to go onb the 4th for a preview, but there was a fire at the cinema daybefore so it was cancelled)... but we had a joint instead!! *l* Its Julians birthday today so he got to choose what ever he wanted for dinner.. he wants (vegie) toad in the hole!!! I've never made a yorskire pudding mixture in my life!!!! Aaaahhh... mum talked me through it and its now "sitting" for two hours!!!

I'm not sure it is the anxiety nausea.. my anxiety has subsided SOOOO much over the last few weeks with maggie's (the psychologists) help.. she's amazing... I wish I'd found her years ago... I've actually asked for my DBT to be postponed as it would mean not seeing Maggie anymore and I think she's helping me more than naything else could!!! Its more like when I take ecstacy... sometimes on that I get sudden waves of nausea that cause me to retch, and often just burp loudly as I retch.. thats whats happening now.. I did it in the middle of a quiz with the in laws at the weekend *cringe* I trie dan otc anti nausea (a travel sickness one) and it made no difference!!!

Waiting to see my old / new psychiatrist now...

Oh, said to maggie today how I felt silly for getting so excited over seeing dr B again, and she said it wasn't silly, as she'd had 3 other patients get as excited when she told them since!!!

Thanks hun
