Cyclothymia and Successful life

Posted by Erla on December 22, 2002, at 12:58:10

Hi
Does anybody know of Cyclothymic patients who succeeded (with or without any treatment, with med treatment or with psychotherapy only) to accomplish reasonable profession studies, find a long lusting relationship, reach satisfactory life, career….?
Thanks, Erla

Cyclothymia is towards the less severe side of the bipolar spectrum. It certainly isn't a barrier to a "successful life". Many people with more severe disorders manage to live successful lives. It's my official diagnosis. With a combination of medication and therapy, I lead what would be considered to be a highly functional life. I have held down the same job for many many years, and am still married to my high school sweetheart. My struggles are mainly private ones.
