Today is my first day weening off of Effexor Xr.
I was on 75mg and now I am on 37.5mg and wellbutrin SR 100mg.
The first time I stopped cold turkey and withdrawal hit me like a ton of bricks, but so far all I have had was a little dreamy feeling every now and then but easy to handle...
Next week I stop it completely but keep taking the Wellbutrin.
Has anyone ever had success on the whole weening thing.

If by "success" you mean eventually got off Effexor completely, then yes. If you mean anything else (like was it tolerable) then no.
I suggest titrating down for a loooonngggg time. I've quit several meds that I'd been on a long time (over the last decade), and never had a problem (other than minor ones) until Effexor. And I had a horrible time with Effexor, unexpectedly because I'd never had much trouble before.
Don't want to scare you, just to recommend you take your time, augment with Prozac (some people recommend) if needed, or with Klonopin (which is what I eventually did) if needed. And, eat, sleep, drink lots of water and be healthy. And, don't plan any special events for the next few weeks.
