Knock knock. Who's there? Dwayne. Dwayne who?

Posted by beardedlady on February 22, 2003, at 14:49:27

Dwayne the basement; I'm dwowning.

It has been raining since last night, and it was quite heavy today. We can see grass poking up around the places that were shoveled, as the temps have been in the forties and fifties.

At 11:30 this morning, the basement began leaking, and we have been wet vacuuming for the past four and a half hours. It's exhausting trying to keep ahead of it, but the rain has stopped, and we're thinking we might be lucky.

Our neighbors have been spending the day the same way.

Well, I should look on the bright side. It's not supposed to snow or rain again until Monday. : (>

Oh Beardy, so sorry you're getting waterlogged down there. I recall you saying that you were worried about it. My sis (yes, the one in Bethesda) said it's been pouring all day...you too? There was actually thunder when we were on the phone. It's so scary because when she heard it, the first thing she did was turn on the radio. Big booms are not good sounds these days. So when she had the radio on, the broadcast was interrupted by a flood warning...it sounded like they listed all the counties in Maryland!

It reminds me of that Mel Gibson movie when the whole family is fighting the flooding...what was it? The River? Anyone? All I remember is Mel and his drenched clothes...sigh. Wait, I think Sissy Spacek was in it too.

Wet vacuuming must be good exercise. yeah, I'm trying to find a positive hidden under all your watta.

Here's to spring flowers...
