Great interview with and story about The Clash on NPR this morning. You can hear it for yourself and relive the great memories. Go to http://discover.npr.org/rundowns/rundown.jhtml?prgId=3&prgDate=current and scroll down to the last story; it's called, "The Clash."
It makes me long for the late seventies. I don't think there was ever a better time musically (for me, anyway). The Saints, Eddie and the Hot Rods, the Stranglers.... Think I'll go pop in a Bomp compilation.

OK, having only been born in '74, I;m a little young to have been there at their hey day, but I do love the Clash!!
I was soo lucky last year.. we won VIP tickets to see Joe Strummer and the Mescalaro's at a private, 100 person, gig.. we got to have drinks with the band after, and Joe Strummer was just sooo nice.. such a gent.. was happy to tell me all about their times on the road, and what it was like.. He made me feel like I was special, and then he was enjoying talking to me.
He is a man that will be soo sorely missed (and hey, I just walked past Hammermith Palais.. I live about 3/4 mile from it!!)
