Happiness is like peeing in your pants, everyone can see it but only you can feel the warmth.
:)
I've been grading student essays for a standardized test, and that quote is from one of the essays. Pretty clever and ironically true to life, I thought.

>Following on from the above I agree that this is an absolutely fantastic quote.
I used to surf until a few years ago when due to a bum shoulder when I had to quit, but I can tell you there is nothing as wonerful as when your surfing on a COLD winter's morning than to pee in your wetsuit (you have no option really) and the wonderful warmth that it gives you in the cold water (especially within a nice insulating wetsuit).
I agree that this can equate to happiness, out in nature in the waves without a care in the world and breathing in the fresh sea air into your lungs......and peeing in your wetsuit to warm yourself up. One thing I discovered about this whole peeing thing is that you can't pee when you are paddling or actually surfing. You actually need to come to a dead stop and relax completely lying on your surfboard in order to be able to let go (This was the case for me no matter how urgent the need to pee was)
I hope I haven't grossed you out but anyone who surfs would understand what I'm talking about:) :)
WARM regards (pun intended)

The student was high school age. I agree that there is a certain truth to it, tho I have never surfed. I have been told that if one is in cold weather and tries that to warm up, the warmth doesn't last too long. Sort of like happiness sometimes. 8-)
Nothing you said grossed me out. I do have one other pee quote that I like...that having a smoking area in a restaurant is like having a peeing area in a swimming pool. I thought that was pretty clever, too, even tho I'm not a nonsmoker.

Shar,
That is so funny!
Is there a norm for grading a quote like that on the Texas standards of learning exams?

We're supposed to be grading "holistically"
(does that really start with a "w"?), so if the rest of the essay was that good (coherent, developed, has voice, etc.) it'd get the highest mark. The essay being funny, whiny, hostile, pedantic, etc. doesn't affect grading if it's a 'good' essay. I've had a number directed to the reader (me) about what a loser I must be to have a job reading student essays for a living (and I tended to agree with the thesis, but most of them weren't well enough written to get a high score).Glad you got a smile out of that.
